Flow at Cathedral Rock

Arriving a little later than I would have liked turned into a good thing when I came across these sand patterns all around the rocks. Normally I’d walk straight past them in the dark without even realising. Today I got to stop and make the most of them and the scattered cloud around at sunrise

Took a few of the usual angles then went rock crawling down one of the gullies and found this cool angle of one of the other rock stacks, next time I might continue around and see what angles the next rockshelf holds

While I was traversing the rocks I noticed this tree I’ve never seen before, no idea how I haven’t noticed it on past visits. I decided to make the most of the quickly moving clouds and do some long exposure photography, this one here was a 2 minute exposure. I love the textures created across the sky when the clouds are moving fast.

This one of cathedral rock was a full 8 minute exposure, I’m always hopeful I have all the settings dialed in appropriately cause it’s a lot of time to stand around for it not to work, which has happened more than I’d like to admit. You will find a couple more examples in the gallery below.

As usual I turned my attention towards the waves when the sun had risen a bit more. Love a beach where I can shoot waves and have a headland in the background. Even better when I score some awesome light on the headland

As I was leaving I found this guy fishing off one of the sea stacks, with the stormy sky it made a perfect black and white scene for a final image.

As always don’t forget to check out the rest of the

images from the morning in the gallery below
