City Beach Stroll

Started this walk further down the beach then I normally would. Parking down near WIN stadium and making my way up to the lighthouse before heading down to the little beach in the harbour beside the old lighthouse.

As I made my way past the lifeguard tower I tried a low shot to take most of the messy sand out of the frame. Kinda works and it stands out really well against the background of pine trees.

Next an image of Toothbrush island, not sure if that’s the official name but it’s what we have called it for as long as I’ve been able to talk. Got a few images of it this morning with different foregrounds. I took this one when I noticed that little boat was going to be going past. I think it helps to show the scale of the island.

Then I started looking for details both near, in the waves washing up along the shoreline, and far in the edge lighting of the clouds backlit by the rising sun. Plus the ever present details in the waves and water shown here.

Sticking with the theme of details I moved onto the lighthouses and the interaction of shadow and light around the sides. When’s the last time you looked this closely at the Flagstaff Hill lighthouse to notice the details?

Playing around in black and white reveals all the details that sometimes get overlooked in a colour version

Staying with that same theme here is some details of the old lighthouse that you may have missed. Had to add in one colour shot though

You know how much I love a lifeguard tower so I’ll leave you with this one to round out my morning walk.

As always don’t forget to check out the rest of the

images from the morning in the gallery below
