Gloomy Coledale

A very gloomy morning spent at Coledale, it wasn’t very inspiring with no light to speak of, a cold wind blowing and scattered showers. I stood at the top of the cliff for about 20 minutes playing around with some angles of the pool and some ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) before heading down to pool level and seeing what I could come up with, spoiler alert, it wasn’t much haha.

This one was a happy accident, the start of one of my sweeps trying to make an ICM and I must have held off the movement for a split second as I hit the shutter. I feel like capturing the waves with the slightest bit of motion really gives a cold wintery feeling, which is pretty accurate considering I was standing on the cliff in shorts and the feels like temp was around 8 degrees

Some of the many ICM images I made, changed the orientation of the portrait image from the original landscape. Something that is fun with these abstract images is not only playing around with colours but also flipping them around sometimes mirroring just to see what the image feels like in different ways.

I think this is my favourite shot from the morning. Shooting through the bush on the edge of the cliff helps to give some depth and then I really like the smooth texture of the water contrasting with the rough texture of the pool wall and rocks

More of that water texture with one of the newer painted signs that hasn’t had time to deteriorate yet.

I ventured down to pool level and came away with this one that I don’t mind. Used the long lens to try and bring the crashing waves closer with the lens compression you get at the extreme zoom levels.

As always don’t forget to check out the rest of the
