Wandering the Lagoon

Another early wake up so took the camera to the lagoon, just handheld because I couldn’t be bothered dealing with the tripod. Started my morning with some Intentional Camera Movement (ICM)

Couple of shots around the rocks, which are very exposed at the moment. A lot of sand has moved around here over the last few years which along with the different tides makes it an interesting place to shoot as there is always something new to find

Went for a quick wander through Stuart Park looking for new images and even though I’ve taken this one before I was drawn to the fog surrounding Mt Keira, using one of the huts to frame it gives that little bit of extra interest to the image

I’m still trying to find a way to make this shot work, I really like the idea of the twisted trees you find scattered around the foreshore as a foreground interest. This one doesn’t quite hit the mark for me as the details of the tree kind of get lost by having it so close in the frame

Just after the walk around the park the sun started to break through the clouds and we got this nice scene with the Lagoon split in two giving me a nice curving water line leading out to the incredible sky

Once again I was distracted by the waves and light so I swapped to my long lens and played wandered the rocks looking for nice shapely waves breaking in the light. After a little while I got distracted by the mountain again with the sunlight hitting while there was still some fog around so I had to scramble back up to the park to find a good unobstructed angle

I finished the morning chasing the Rainbow Lorikeets around. I really want to get an image of one of these in flight but they are so fast and my reflexes aren’t exactly what I’d call quick haha, think I’ll have to settle for images of them playing around in the trees instead. These two were play fighting and in this photo one has the leg of the other one trapped in its beak

As always don’t forget to check out the rest of the

images from the morning in the gallery below
