Flying Around Coledale
An early start to my Saturday had me driving to Coledale again, this time with the drone which I don’t have with me often. I always forget to charge it before I go for a shoot, on this occasion I woke up so early I had time to charge two of my three batteries before I left that morning. I arrived about 20 minutes before sunrise so used my normal camera first as I knew I only had a limited time of flying the drone and I like to get the drone out when the sun has already risen to get that golden light shining across the landscape.
Captured a couple of other people waiting for the sun to appear over the horizon too. My guess is they wanted it to warm them up cause it was fresshhh!!! I took all photos this morning from the patch of grass you can see in the first photo, I was too cold to move so just stood where I launched the drone from.
Sent the drone up to get a birds eye view of the pool and its surrounds. I never tire of seeing the world from this angle, I really need to start taking the drone out with me more often
You always have to get a top down shot of the pool if you’re flying over it, it gives such a cool perspective and a view you don’t often see. In this one I managed to capture the shot just as a wave started spilling across the rockshelf and into the pool
In between battery changes on the drone I noticed some things I wanted to capture with the regular camera. First we have the moon sitting in a nice position above these trees, I also did a black and white edit of this shot which you will find in the gallery below. Then a wave exploding off the rockshelf behind the pool while another wave breaks nicely behind that
Here is another wave that is breaking behind the pool, only this time it has some nice golden light shining through the lip as the remains of another wave cascade down the edge of the rocks next to the pool
Lastly just a shot of this clump of trees (or maybe bushes, I’m not sure haha) contrasting the blue of the sky and water. This scene stood out to me more and more as the sun rose and lit up the leaves. Another one I did a black and white edit on but I think the colour contrast is what really drew me in here.
As always don’t forget to check out the rest of the
images from the morning in the gallery below
