Harbour Walk
The morning started by parking just past the bridge that leads across the lower roadway along the edge of the harbour where, as I went to cross the bridge, I found this nice angle of the building that houses the Harbourfront Restaurant and Bombora Cafe. Then another new angle directly from the bridge looking over the commercial part of the harbour as people walk along the roadway
Some interesting clouds catching some of the light at sunrise got me shooting as wide as possible to line the clouds up like an arrow pointing to the old lighthouse
A nice curved shoreline around the harbour leading to the Harbourfront building as it passes some surf ski paddlers. With the beach cleanup tractor leaving some nice tread marks that compliment and mirror the shoreline in the immediate foreground and the Flagstaff Hill lighthouse in the back left. Making a nice Wollongong winter morning scene
A quick walk out along the western breakwall as the sun came up got me catching the light on the sides of both lighthouses
That same golden light shining onto the railing down the ramp to the Gentlemens Pool caught my attention. I love the layers in this image, with the ramp leading to the pool, the cut out of the blue mile, the surf club in the background and the mountains over looking the whole scene while catching the nice soft light
My lap ended at the surf club and this sky demanded attention, I just had to find the right subject and angle to show it off properly. I think the palm tree and side of the surf club filled the requirement
I took the high road for the way back for a bit of different scenery. This one gives a stormy feel with the sky and the colour of the water, nice bit of greenery at the bottom of the frame to give some added depth
I wasn’t the only one admiring the views. As I was trying to get a shot of the railing leading to the harbour I caught this guy stopping for a quick snap of the scene in front of him
Found this banksia which I was able to line up nicely with the sky and ocean as a backdrop because it was right next to the stairs that led from the road down to the pools.
Finished up at this garden before heading back to the car, although I need to confess I used photoshop to remove the power pole and lines out of the middle cause I found them extremely distracting. As always you will find plenty more in the gallery down below.
As always don’t forget to check out the rest of the
