Minnamurra Flyby
A day off work meant a day for photography, went to Minnamurra for the first time this year. Even managed to remember to charge the drone batteries after enjoying my fly around Coledale the weeke before. I like to get an image as soon as possible once I’m out of the car to set the scene for the morning. This one is taken from the carpark at the boat ramp with Stack Island standing out on the horizon against the glow of the rising sun.
Took some photos of the island as I made my way along the edge of the water, heading out to the end of the point to find a spot to fly the drone from. The perfect way to fill in time while I waited for sunrise and the golden light my drone loves so much
First rays of the sun hitting the drone but not quite high enough to hit the island just yet. I love this perspective though, with the island fully surrounded by ocean and no mainland to be seen it really could be anywhere in the vastness of the worlds oceans.
You know with the drone up there has to be some top downs taken. From above you find all sorts of sand patterns along the rivers edge and under the water, as well as a heap of seagulls flying from one spot to another along the sand banks. I also really liked the way the light was hitting the sand and headland amongst all the scattered rocks in this other one.

The open spaces of Minamurra point looking towards Bombo and Kiama. Everywhere you point the drone down here is a magical view, makes it both hard and easy to photograph. I say hard because there are so many options that you end up with way too many photos and I’ve never been real good at narrowing the selection down to a manageable amount. Looking at the photos here I’m sure you can imagine why it’s easy.
To the surprise of absolutely no one, I once again got distracted by the waves rolling through between the headland and the island. Got some shots before flying the drone and some after, this one is obviously after with that light shining through the water.
